La quête de l’or olympique débutera le 17 mars sur Virtual Regatta

Virtual Regatta et World Sailing unissent une nouvelle fois leurs forces pour offrir une opportunité unique aux joueurs du monde entier : se mesurer aux meilleurs eSkippers de la planète et tenter de s’imposer sur les Olympic Esports Series. La compétition, qui s’inscrit dans le cadre des Olympic Esports Series 2023 du Comité International Olympique (CIO), aura deux volets : une course offshore autour du monde de 30 jours, et des régates inshore mettant à l’honneur plusieurs Classes dont le Nacra 17, le 49er et l’ILCA.

Une course offshore en Ultim 32/23

Les milliers de eSkippers attendus sur la course offshore, qui se disputera en Ultim 32/23, sillonneront tous les océans virtuels du monde au départ de Singapour, où sera également jugée l’arrivée. Et où se déroulera la finale des Olympic Esports Series. Le podium sera récompensé à Singapour. Les inscriptions pour la course, qui se disputera sur Virtual Offshore du 31 mars au 2 mai prochains, ont ouvert mercredi 1er mars.

Des régates inshore dès le 17 mars

Le coup d’envoi des régates inshore sera quant à lui donné le 17 mars prochain sur Virtual Regatta Inshore, avec la première des huit épreuves de qualification. Les vainqueurs de chacune de ces épreuves, ainsi que le joueur et la joueuse qui auront obtenu le meilleur classement lors des phases qualificatives, décrocheront leur ticket pour la finale live. Cette dernière aura lieu au Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre de Singapour du jeudi 22 au dimanche 25 juin pendant l’Olympic Esports Week. Elle sera retransmise dans le monde entier sur Olympics.com et les réseaux sociaux.

Avec cette compétition, la voile rejoint le cercle des huit disciplines d’ores et déjà confirmées pour la finale live à Singapour, que sont le tir à l’arc sur Tic Tac Bow, le baseball sur WBSC eBaseball Power Pros, les échecs sur Chess.com, le cyclisme sur Zwift, la danse sur JustDance, le tennis sur Tennis Clash, le taekwondo sur Virtual Taekwondo et enfin de sport automobile sur Gran Turismo.

Fortes du succès de l’édition 2021 qui s’est disputée avant les Jeux Olympiques de Tokyo 2020, les Olympic Esports Series 2023 marquent une nouvelle étape dans le soutien apporté au sein du Mouvement Olympique au développement des sports virtuels, comme le prévoit l’Olympic Agenda 2020+5. Et prolonge la collaboration du Mouvement Olympique avec les communautés de gaming et d’eSports pour créer de nouvelles opportunités pour les joueurs et les fans.

A noter que pour participer à l’épreuve de voile des Olympic Esports Series 2023, les joueurs devront avoir un équipement compatible et une connexion Internet stable.
