UBAC et le transport à la voile pour un voyage zéro émission carbone

Le transport par voile permet de ne générer quasiment aucune émission de CO2. Au-delà d’une expérimentation logistique, cette initiative interroge sur notre rapport au temps. Alors que l’on cherche à revenir à la sobriété et à un mode de consommation plus lent et plus respectueux de l’environnement, le transport à la voile nous invite à célébrer le temps long.
Une initiative low carbon qui questionne les problématiques écologiques du transport actuel et notre rapport au temps
  
Le secteur du transport est le premier poste d’émission de gaz à effet de serre en France.
Aujourd’hui, il existe très peu d’offres de transport de marchandises à la voile. Ce mode logistique demande un budget conséquent et prend du temps dans une société où la norme est à la rapidité.
Mais ce projet, pour le moment anecdotique, pourrait devenir une réelle alternative au transport carboné.
Blue Schooner Company et Ubac se positionnent comme pionniers dans le secteur avec cette expérimentation. La compagnie maritime a d’ailleurs investi 8 millions d’euros dans un navire avec une plus grosse capacité de stockage. Un partenariat qui n’est que le début d’une grande aventure !

À bord du voilier GALLANT : KOTO, une basket innovante en cuir de coton recyclé, vendue en pré-réservation.
KOTO propose une alternative innovante au cuir animal, habituellement très impactant, grâce à un cuir végétal à base de coton recyclé. La basket innovante sera uniquement vendue en pré-réservation à partir du 29 septembre, à 110€ sur Sa tige se compose d’un cuir de coton recyclé à 81% et sa semelle de caoutchouc recyclé extra souple. Le coton recyclé provient d’anciens vêtements ou de chutes de production destinés à être jetés.
Utiliser du coton recyclé permet donc d’éviter l’impact lié à la culture d’un coton neuf tout en revalorisant des vêtements destinés à être jetés. Le coton représente, encore en 2022, 50% de la matière utilisée par l’industrie textile.
Les vieux vêtements en coton sont donc une mine d’or : ils sont disponibles localement en grande quantité et revalorisent des matières destinées à être jetées.
Pour toutes ces raisons, Ubac privilégie le coton recyclé car l’avantage est triple :
•         Limiter l’usage de l’eau (pas de teinture ni de lavage).
•         Utiliser des matières déjà présentes en Europe et destinées à être jetées.
•         Créer de l’emploi avec les filières du tri et du recyclage.

A bord du voilier, Jean-François LEBLEU, Cofondateur de la Blue Schooner Company, Capitaine de Marine Marchande. Passionné de mer et de voile, Jeff navigue depuis son plus jeune âge. Il s’oriente naturellement vers une carrière de marin de commerce au cours de laquelle il embarque à bord de divers navires, depuis les transbordeurs à passagers jusqu’au brise-glace, en passant par les navires de recherche océanographique.
